Veterans and their acceptance upon returning home

Many people believe that J.R.R. Tolkien (A Veteran of WWI) presented this very problem in the end of his “Lord of the Rings” Trilogy. The feeling of Acceptance upon arriving back home has been a problem for Veterans since World War I and probably long before then. It may be the horrors they have seen while they were away, the longing to be with their families after so long, or even to feel accepted after most likely being in a place they were unwanted. It may even be a combination of all of these.

About Chapter 1 of Smoke

I recently posted the first chapter of my novel, "Smoke". The reason I did this was so whoever wants to can read the first chapter and see if they would like to read the rest. I need feedback on it before I make my final revisions, and then it's off to publishers. So if you would like to read the rest of it just let me know. Any feedback I can get on it will be greatly appreciated.

The Smoke - 4th Draft

Almost done editing the 4th Draft of my novel, "The Smoke". Looks like it will be around 90,000 words, or 250 Double Spaced Pages.

Once I finish this draft I will handing it out to a number of people in hopes of getting feedback. After that, I will have a clearer picture of things I may need to fix or expand upon in the next revision. The feedback should prove invaluable. After the next revision I should be ready to send it out to publishers or Agents.

Should Smoking In Public Places Be Allowed?

This will continue to be an issue for decades. On one side, yes it is a persons right to decide if they smoke or not. It is also their constitutional right to be able to smoke. On the other side, second hand smoke is a dangerous thing and non-smokers have the right to not have to inhale it. And this is how we always end up in a limbo of who's rights take precedence. I don't feel we should take the rights away from either side. Why can't we come up with a compromise?
